iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF logo

The iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF aims to offer investors exposure to a diversified portfolio of U.S. dollar-denominated high yield corporate debt with short maturities. This fund is designed to track an index that reflects the performance of high yield bonds, commonly known as junk bonds, which are issued by corporations with lower credit ratings. These bonds typically offer higher yields to compensate for their increased risk compared to investment-grade bonds.

The ETF invests at least 80% of its assets in the securities that constitute the underlying index. This index focuses on high yield corporate bonds with maturities ranging from zero to five years. By concentrating on shorter-term debt, the fund seeks to reduce interest rate risk and provide investors with more predictable returns. The remaining 20% of the fund’s assets may be invested in other fixed-income securities or cash equivalents.

To maintain accurate tracking of the index, the fund allocates at least 90% of its assets to fixed income securities included in the index. These securities are selected based on their high yield characteristics and short maturity profiles. The strategy allows the fund to mirror the index’s performance closely, providing investors with a reliable option for accessing short-term high yield corporate bonds while managing potential volatility.

This ETF is particularly suited for investors looking for higher income potential from corporate debt with a shorter duration. The focus on high yield bonds can offer attractive yields compared to investment-grade bonds, though it comes with higher credit risk. The iShares 0-5 Year High Yield Corporate Bond ETF provides a balance of income and risk management by focusing on shorter maturities, helping to mitigate some of the duration risk associated with longer-term high yield securities.
