MSCI Inc., along with its subsidiaries, provides investment decision support tools for clients managing their investment processes globally. Headquartered in New York, New York, and incorporated in 1998, MSCI operates through four main segments: Index, Analytics, ESG and Climate, and All Other – Private Assets. The Index segment offers indexes for various investment applications, including ETFs, mutual funds, annuities, futures, options, structured products, and over-the-counter derivatives. These indexes are also used for performance benchmarking, portfolio construction and rebalancing, asset allocation, and licensing the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) and GICS Direct.

The Analytics segment delivers risk management, perfformance attribution, and portfolio management content, applications, and services that offer an integrated view of risk and return. This includes analysis of market, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risk across asset classes. It also provides managed services, consolidating client portfolio data from various sources, reviewing and reconciling input data and results, and offering customized reporting. Additionally, the HedgePlatform measures, evaluates, and monitors hedge fund investment risks.

The ESG and Climate segment offers products and services to institutional investors to help them understand how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors impact long-term risk and return. This segment provides data, ratings, research, and tools to navigate increasing regulations. The All Other – Private Assets segment includes real estate market and transaction data, benchmarks, return analytics, climate assessments, and market insights for funds, investors, and managers. It also offers business intelligence to real estate owners, managers, developers, and brokers, and supports investment decision tools for private capital. MSCI serves a wide range of clients, including asset owners and managers, financial intermediaries, wealth managers, real estate professionals, and corporattions.
