Apricus Biosciences, Inc. (APRI) was a biopharmaceutical company based in San Diego, California, in the United States. The company focused on developing and commercializing pharmaceutical products for urology and rheumatology conditions.
APRI's lead product was Vitaros, a topical cream for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The cream contained the active ingredient alprostadil and was designed to provide a non-invasive alternative to other treatments for erectile dysfunction, such as injections or oral medications.
In addition to Vitaros, APRI also had a pipeline of product candidates in development for the treatment of various urological and rheumatological conditions.
In 2018, APRI announced that it was merging with Seelos Therapeutics, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of treatments for central nervous system disorders and rare diseases. As part of the merger, the combined company would operate under the Seelos Therapeutics name and focus on advancing its pipeline of product candidates.
