Apollo Education Group, Inc. (APOL) was a for-profit education company based in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States. The company provided a range of educational programs and services, primarily through its subsidiary, University of Phoenix, one of the largest for-profit universities in the country.
University of Phoenix offered undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs in a variety of fields, including business, healthcare, education, and technology. The university's programs were delivered through online and on-campus formats, and were designed to be flexible and accessible for working adults.
In 2017, Apollo Education Group was acquired by a consortium of investors led by The Vistria Group, a private equity firm. As part of the acquisition, Apollo Education Group was taken private and delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange.
